The 2016 Presidential election was the first election I have paid attention to. I admit, the political landscape is vast and there is much I have yet to learn. However, I do recognize something forgotten on both the left and right sides of the aisle, truth. Right now there is a strong divide in the United States. I don't see it as racism or sexism; rather, what we define truth as being.

We accept truth as being fact, but a lot of people like to bend the truth and only claim what fits their prerogative. This is why we have such separation in politics today. What a Democrat may see as an irrefutable fact, a Republican may see as a lie or deception from what the real facts are, and vice versa. This leads more into the real question rarely asked: why is it so difficult to accept truth?
